Product Benefits

  • Reduced installation time
  • Meets ASTM C361, ASTM C443, ASTM C1619, California Greenbook and CSA A-257 material specifications
  • Easy lubrication and equalization
  • Suitable for all pipe and manhole sizes
  • Standard and oil-resistant gaskets available

Designed to provide lateral stability during the homing process, the SORT gasket smoothly inserts into the groove with less stretching. That means less chance of bell breakage, improved alignment and watertightness, and easier equalization.

The shape of the SORT gasket also prevents it from twisting, which eliminates bell rollback and potential leakage. There’s more. Contractors save additional time because the spigot groove does not need to be lubricated. Only the upper surface area of the gasket needs lubrication after insertion into the groove. The gasket’s profile also gives it more sealing area and helps to maintain a tight seal around bugholes and defects in the spigot/bell sealing area compared with a traditional O-ring.

Tylox® SORT gaskets are manufactured from a variety of synthetic rubber compounds to meet the material requirements of ASTM C361, ASTM C443, ASTM C1619, California Greenbook, and CSA A257.

The applicable specification is identified by a colored stripe around the periphery of the gasket:

Standard

  • C1619 Class C, C443, A257 – White stripe
  • C1619 Class A, C361, A257 – Blue stripe
  • California Greenbook – Green stripe

Oil-Resistant

  • C1619 Class D, A257 – Orange stripe
  • California Greenbook – Yellow stripe

Pressure Rating

Tylox® SORT profile gaskets are suitable for installations requiring up to 13 psig (30 ft Head or 90kPa) pressure requirements. Higher head pressures may be possible for certain joint designs.

Tylox® SORT gaskets are produced in a few different profiles to properly seal most confined-groove joint designs common in the concrete pipe and manhole industries.
